Ron, with his lovely assistant, Jennylyn, showed the twenty four people who attended the workshop how to make haloumi, paneer and ricotta cheese. Ron and Jennylyn made it seem so easy and achieveable. They cooked us some haloumi and treated us to Italian baked ricotta muffins. They were so delicious. I loved hearing the conversations that everybody was having as the morning progressed. It had such a community feel. Thank you so much to Ron and Jennylyn. When they send the recipes through I will post them on the blog.
Yesterday we had our first workshop for 2014. To start with we had a homegrown and handmade swap. We had a table full of different produce from eggs to soap, pumpkins to eggplants and coriander seeds to amazing embroidered teatowels. What fun we had choosing what we wanted to take home. We shared a lovely morning tea and Margaret showed us a great knitted jacket that is simply a rectangle with the edges stitched together leaving a hole for arms. Hard to explain but very simple and effective.

We have our first workshop for the year!
Ron Phillips will be running a Cheese Making Demonstration on the 24 May, 10-12noon, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Hall, 23 Glenvale Road. He will demonstrate how to make haloumi, paneer and ricotta cheese. The cost for the session will be $5. Bookings are required by 21 May. If you are interested in attending just send me an email via the contact form. We are also going to combine the workshop with a homegrown and handmade swap. The swap will start at 9am followed by a cuppa at 9.30am. The swap and cuppa are free and don't require bookings! Just bring along up to five items that you have grown or made for the swap table. You are welcome to come to both the workshop and cuppa/swap or just one of them. A great big thanks to Michelle and Sharon for organising this workshop. |
